You already have great answers Heaver good wood makes a beaver happy shirt but I’ll add my two cents worth. As others have said, lead is inexpensive, it is found around the world, it is heavy and it is easy to mold into the shape of the bullet you want. It doesn’t wear out the rifling very quickly inside a barrel and when it hits the target, it expands, causing maximum damage which is the entire purpose of shooting something or someone.
Gold would be a good material for bullets for all of the reasons except the first two mentioned above. It is expensive and is hard to find. It is actually quite a bit heaver than lead but just not feasible for bullets because of its scarcity and cost. Really it depends on your definition of “tights”. Sporting tights are heaver than pantyhose and are worn by both men and women for running, cycling, hiking. These can be worn as pants. They are NOT transparent. If you are referring to “tights” which are pantyhose then no. If worn by themselves you would need “heaver” tights (pantyhose) such as Dinear 120 and higher so they aren’t transparent or your goods will show. The Wrights are also given too much credit for the overall development of the airplane as a practical technology. They made some very important innovations, especially related to controlling an airplane, which put them way ahead of contemporaries for a few years. However, they spent the rest of their lives holding innovation back by trying to control the market with patents. Competitors such as Curtiss soon overtook them both in technology and the market.
